Archbishop Sebastian Shaw issued new liturgical directives for Parishes
Lahore (Suzanna Joseph): Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw OFM issued the new directives for parishes in a letter to the Catholic community of Archdiocese of Lahore about coronavirus.
Here is the complete text of the letter;
Respected Rev. Fathers, Sisters and dear friends,
We all are well aware of the present lethal Corona virus crisis and how it grips the entire world. It is spreading from person to person quickly and has claimed thousands of lives. Since this June, it is also infecting and preying upon several Christian communities in Pakistan.
So, it is advisable to implement precautionary measures in our communities in order to inhibit the spread of the virus. Crucially, these measures begin with good basic practice in personal hygiene, as has been outlined in public information notices, TV and Radio. According to Government sources it will remain at its peak throughout the months of June, July and August.
Dear friends, in such troublesome times our key focus is foremost on two purposes the one is saving lives and secondly saving faith.
We can keep ourselves and others safe by being mindful of the safety measures as suggested by WHO and the government.
Through televised Holy Mass, we secure and strengthen our faith. Therefore, public masses will not be celebrated and in all our churches Masses will be televised until further orders.
We request that you to:
• Wear masks
• Avoid public gatherings
• Regularly wash hands
• Avoid going outdoors unnecessarily
• Use sanitizers in an emergency and rigorously wash hands and face.
• Maintain social distancing
May God make you an instrument of keeping yourself, others and Pakistan safe.
Yours in faith
+Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw
