Awareness session on importance of 6th Population Census 2017

Faisalabad: On 22nd March 2017, Caritas Pakistan Faisalabad organized an awareness session on importance and process of 6th Population and Housing Census 2017 under the supervision of His Excellency Bishop Joseph Arshad. The session was organized with the influential segments i.e. Members Civil Society organization of Faisalabad Diocese, Lawyers, Journalists, and Educationists at Conference Hall of Caritas Pakistan Faisalabad.

In his address His Lordship Bishop Joseph Arshad, bishop of Faisalabad told that the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Pakistan is giving importance to the current census by spreading and sensitizing the Christian community through different Church forums.

He requested the participants to take active part in this census by propagating this message in their respective working areas. All the participants assured the Bishop that they will sensitize the community members by spreading this message by means of banners, pamphlets, social media and house visitation.

The census will be carried out in two phases across the Country. The first phase which is going on till April 15 while the second phase is likely to be initiated from April 24 and will end in May 15.
So far, five population census have been held in Pakistan in 1951, 1961, 1972, 1981 and 1998.

For 2017 census, the 1998 model will be followed and Pakistan army will again be engaged to hold the exercise in a more credible and transparent manner.
