Children engaged in the Mission of Christ in Bahawalpur

Bahawalpur: On 1st March 2024, a Holy Mass was celebrated at St. Dominic’s Parish, Bahawalpur, bringing together His Excellency Bishop Yousaf Sohan, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Multan, along with Fr. Patrick Patras, Rector of Minor Seminary Multan and Director of PMS for the Diocese of Multan, and Babu Sunny Saleem. The occasion was marked by the presence of students and catechism teachers from various schools including St. Dominic’s Convent Higher Secondary Boys School, Dominican Study Center School, St. Mary’s Girls High School, and St. Peter’s School.




In his homily, Bishop Yousaf Sohan reflected on the significance of the day’s readings and emphasized the mission of Christ, as well as the role of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in fulfilling that mission. Fr. Patrick Patras further elaborated on the involvement of children in the mission of Christ and the PMS, highlighting how children are able to support their peers through initiatives facilitated by the PMS.

One noteworthy aspect of the Holy Mass was the initiative to engage children in supporting missionary activities for the needy. Envelopes were distributed to the heads of the institutions present, with the aim of encouraging children to contribute donations towards these important missions. This campaign exemplified the spirit of solidarity and compassion that lies at the heart of the Catholic faith, as children were empowered to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

The presence of parishioners, Dominican Sisters, fathers, brothers, and catechists underscored the collective commitment of the community to furthering the mission of Christ and extending assistance to those in need. Through gatherings such as this Mass, the Catholic community in Bahawalpur continues to demonstrate its dedication to serving others and spreading the message of love and compassion.

As the Mass concluded, participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and a deepened understanding of their role in contributing to the mission of Christ.
