Carrying the Cross is the way to success, Fr. Pascal Paulus O.P
“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be done to me according to your word.” (Lk. 1:38)
Faisalabad: 25th March 2023 was a joyful day for the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena. The two sisters namely, Sr. M. Pinky Arif O.P. and Sr. M. Alka Latif O.P. professed their temporary vows at St. Catherine Novitiate House, Warispura, Faisalabad-Pakistan.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Very Rev. Fr. Pascal Paulus O.P. (Vice-Provincial) along with Dominican Friars of Ibn e Mariam, Province of Pakistan.
In his homily, Fr. Pascal said, “It is an auspicious, blessed, beautiful, and wonderful day, making history for the Dominican family. Today we celebrate: Feast of Annunciation of Mary, the birthday of St. Catherine of Siena, the day of Vice-Provincial of Ibn e Mariam, and the rite of perpetual commitment of our two sisters. I congratulate the families of the two sisters who listened, recognized, and accepted the voice of the Lord. They brought up their daughters in the Christian faith so that they, like St. Catherine in the vineyard of the Lord, may contribute to the salvation of souls”, he added.
“Today, the message given through Prophet Isaiah is a sign for all humanity that God will save the universe. As soon as the Holy Mary says her “Yes” there begins a celebration on the skies and the Word is made flesh. St. Mary’s faith, trust, and saying “May it be for me according to your Word” shows her trust and firm faith in God and today these daughters are also saying the same thing that we are present”, he continued.
Addressing the two sisters he said, “You have chosen the path of God and resolved to follow it. Clearly, it shows that God loves you very much. Your calling is a proof that there is the shadow of Holy Mary upon you; that is why, you are pledging the occasion of this feast of the Annunciation. St. Catherine should be your role model as She surrendered herself to God. You are going to face many difficulties in your life; to tackle these, you must remember the words of St. Catherine. She says that we must give ourselves to the divine Lordship of God and always say “Yes”, like St. Mary”, he emphasized.
“You must be the witness of His love and spread His name. As of result of it, Jesus will appear in your life. Remember, the life you have chosen is not a bed of roses and you may face society’s criticism. So, you will have to carry your Cross every day and if you are faithful to Jesus by carrying your Cross, you will be victorious. I pray that God may bless you, Amen”, he concluded.
