Catholic Church Organizes Iftar Dinner to Promote Interfaith Harmony

Islamabad: In a remarkable display of interfaith solidarity, the Islamabad-Rawalpindi Diocese of the Catholic Church organized an Iftar dinner for their Muslim brothers during the holy month of Ramadan. The event was hosted by Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad, Bishop of Islamabad-Rawalpindi Diocese which brought together prominent figures from the Muslim and Christian communities, including Minister of State for Interfaith Harmony, Khel Das Kohistani and Senator Tahir Khalil Sindhu.




The Iftar dinner served as a powerful symbol of religious tolerance and unity, highlighting the importance of promoting peace and brotherhood in Pakistan. Minister Khel Das Kohistani emphasized the need to respect each other’s religious sentiments and promote interfaith harmony, stating that “Pakistan is a multi-religious country where everyone has the right to live according to their beliefs.”

Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad echoed similar sentiments, saying that “Pakistan is like a beautiful bouquet where people of different religions are like colorful flowers. We should respect each other’s religious beliefs and promote unity.” Senator Tahir Khalil Sindhu added that “we should plant a tree whose shade benefits everyone. In this holy month, we must help the poor and the needy so that we can truly embrace the blessings of Ramadan.”

The event was attended by a large number of Christian religious leaders and notable Muslim scholars, including Director of Rehmat-ul-Lil-Alameen Authority, Sohail, and Mufti Zameer Ahmad Sajid from the Ameen Committee. The gathering was organized under the supervision of Director of CCIDE, Fr. Azam Siddique OFM Cap and his team.

This historic Iftar dinner marked a significant milestone in promoting religious tolerance, peace, and equality in Pakistan. As emphasized by the speakers, strengthening interfaith harmony is crucial to building a peaceful and stable society. The Catholic Church’s initiative serves as a shining example of the power of interfaith dialogue and cooperation in fostering a more harmonious and inclusive community.
