Unity and Faith: Celebrating 1700 Years of Nicea Council
Rawalpindi: The Christian Study Centre in Rawalpindi recently hosted a prestigious conference to commemorate the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicea, a pivotal event in Christian history. This landmark gathering, held from March 27th to 30th, 2025, brought together scholars, church leaders, and ministers to reflect on the significance of the First Ecumenical Council.
In 325 A.D., the Council of Nicea convened to counter the heretical teachings of Arius, who denied the divine nature of Jesus Christ. The Church Fathers gathered to formulate a unified response, resulting in the creation of the Nicene Creed. This foundational statement of faith remains a cornerstone of Christian doctrine, recognized by mainline Churches worldwide, including those in Pakistan.

A group of students from the Christ the King Seminary, Karachi accompanied by their formator and professor of Dogmatic Theology, Fr. Dawood Akhter, actively participated in the conference. This enriching experience provided opportunities for learning, sharing ideas, and embracing the spirit of Ecumenism. The CKS delegation engaged with church leaders and ministers, fostering greater understanding and unity among Christian communities.

The conference served as a powerful reminder of the importance of unity and cooperation among Christians. As we celebrate this significant milestone, we honor the courageous efforts of the Church Fathers who shaped the course of Christian history. Their legacy continues to inspire us today, promoting a deeper understanding of our shared faith and values.
