Christians Come Together for Week of Prayer

Rawalpindi: The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, held annually from January 18th to 25th, brought together Christians from diverse denominations in a spirit of unity and prayer. This year’s theme, “Do you believe this?” (John 11:26), served as a powerful reminder of the shared faith that binds Christians together.

On the first day of the week-long observance, a special prayer service was presided over by His Grace Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral in Rawalpindi. The event was attended by Catholic clergy, including Very Rev. Fr. Asif John, Vicar General of Islamabad-Rawalpindi Diocese, as well as religious leaders from various denominations.

The program was organized by the Catholic Commission for Interreligious Dialogue and Ecumenism, Islamabad-Rawalpindi Diocese. In his message, Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad emphasized the importance of unity among Christians, saying, “As we pray together, we are reminded that our shared faith is stronger than our differences.”

This year’s theme, inspired by the dialogue between Jesus and Martha, invites reflection on the Nicene Creed and the fundamental beliefs that unite Christians across denominations. As Christians around the world come together in prayer, they are reminded that their shared faith is a powerful force for unity and love.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of ecumenism and interfaith dialogue. As Christians, we are called to put aside our differences and come together in prayer, united in our shared faith and commitment to spreading the message of love and unity.
