Archbishop Benny Leads CSJ Ruby Jubilee and Solemn Profession Ceremony

Lahore (Sr. Sumaira CSJ): On July 26, 2025, the Congregation of Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery (CSJ) in Lahore celebrated a significant milestone – the Ruby Jubilee of 40 years of shared faith and life for three sisters: Sr. Shakila CSJ, Sr. Nasreen CSJ and Sr. Permila CSJ. The occasion was further marked by the solemn profession of three new sisters: Sr. Flonia Hafeez CSJ, Sr. Mehwish Tariq CSJ, and Sr. Maria CSJ.




The Eucharistic celebration, presided over by His Grace Archbishop Benny Mario Travas, Apostolic Administrator of Lahore Archdiocese, took place at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Lahore. The ceremony was attended by the Fr. Asif Sardar, Vicar General of the Lahore Archdiocese, clergy, and laity, as well as the General Superior of the CSJ congregation, Sr. Dolores Lahr CSJ, and her Councilor, S. Cristina Gavazzi CSJ.

During the ceremony, the newly professed sisters made their public profession of chastity, obedience and poverty in the presence of the General Superior and the Regional Coordinator, Sr. Shakila CSJ. The Jubilarian sisters renewed their vows, and the families of the newly professed sisters offered the Offertory.

Archbishop Travas delivered a meaningful and practical homily, emphasizing the unconditional love of God and the importance of responding to it with generosity and self-giving. He congratulated the Jubilarian sisters and the newly professed sisters, as well as their families.

The ceremony was attended by various groups, including CSJ associates and the CSJ youth group, who witnessed the faith lived by the sisters. The postulants and candidates presented a magnificent Bible procession, and the newly professed sisters selected the Bible passages for the ceremony.

After the final blessings, the Regional Coordinator offered a vote of thanks to all who attended the ceremony, expressing special gratitude to Archbishop Travas for his generosity and presence. A festive lunch was served at St. Anthony’s Hall, where the cake was cut in the presence of the Archbishop, Jubilarian sisters, and newly professed sisters.

The celebration was a testament to the commitment and dedication of the CSJ sisters in Pakistan, who continue to serve and spread the message of love and faith. The presence of the General Superior and the Regional Coordinator underscored the significance of the occasion and the importance of the CSJ congregation’s mission.

The event concluded on a joyful note, with the sisters and the congregation renewing their commitment to their faith and their mission. The Ruby Jubilee celebration and the solemn profession of the new sisters marked a significant milestone in the lives of the CSJ sisters in Pakistan, and it is expected to inspire and strengthen their faith and service to the community.
