Dominicans in Pakistan welcome new Priest and Deacons

Faisalabad: In a Holy Mass of Ordination at Holy Rosary Parish, Faisalabad, one Dominican brother namely, Dn. Irfan Christ OP ordained to Priesthood and two Dominican brothers namely, Br. Arish Hyacinth OP and Br. Nabil Joseph OP ordained to Diaconate by His Excellency Bishop Indrias Rehmat, Bishop of Faisalabad on September 29, 2023.

Bishop Indrias presided over the Mass along with Very Rev. Fr. Pascal Polous OP, Vice Provincial of Ibn e Mariam Province of Pakistan, Fr. Shahzad Younis OP and the clergy of the Diocese.

The first reading was taken from the Book of Isaiah 6:1-9, the Second from Acts of the Apostles 6:16, and the Gospel reading was taken from the Gospel of St. John’s.

In his homily, Bishop Indrias said that “Today is a very rejoicing day for all of us as our God has given us 01 new priest and 02 new deacons for Dominican community. We are thankful to God for His mercy and the parents of these young men who offer their sons to serve God and His people, he continued.

“You have offered yourself to serve the community and I pray the passion may continue in your lives. Always listen to the poor, become voice of the voiceless. Service of a priest is much more than an angle. A priest is a second Christ, he pray for sick and free them from their sins. You are the choosers, always listen to God and His people”, he concluded.

Fr. Irfan Christ OP
Fr. Irfan Christ OP belongs to Khushpur, Faisalabad. He was born on 9th November 1993 at Khanewal and completed graduation degree from Bahauddin Zikaria University, Multan. He got his early education from St. Thomas High School Khushpur. He started his seminary education/formation from Dominican House, Multan in 2009.

Dn. Arish Hyacinth OP
Dn. Raheel Shafaqat belongs to Multan. He got his early education from St. Joseph’s Primary School, Bishop House Multan. He started his seminary education/formation from Dominican House, Multan in 2012. He also served at St. Dominican Higher Secondary School for three years.

Dn. Nabeel Joseph OP
Dn. Nabeel Joseph OP belongs to Okara. He was born on 27th May 1993. He got his early education from his native village and started his seminary education/formation in 2013. He completed theological education from King Major Seminary, Karachi for Theology in June 2023.
