St Bonaventure’s Minor Seminary Hosts Annual Vocation Day

Mirpurkhas: St. Bonaventure’s Minor Seminary in Mirpurkhas, Sindh, Pakistan, recently hosted its annual Vocation Day on May 18, 2025. The event, which spanned two days, aimed to foster and celebrate vocations to the priesthood within the Diocese of Hyderabad. The seminary, inaugurated on August 15, 2022, serves as a vital institution for young men discerning their call to serve the Church.




The day began with a warm welcome to the 24 participants from different parishes of the Catholic Diocese of Hyderabad. Fr. Sabir Sadiq, Vicar General, highlighted the significance of God’s call to each person, encouraging the young participants to listen and respond with a firm “yes.” A guided tour of the seminary followed, giving participants insight into the life of seminarians.

Bishop Shukardin emphasized the sacredness of the priestly vocation, urging humility and dedication in their spiritual journey. The participants spent valuable time with the Lord in Benediction, followed by a movie showcasing the sacrifices and demands of the priesthood.

The next day’s Holy Mass, celebrated by Fr. William Emmanuel and con-celebrated by Fr. John Farrugia, marked the day with prayers for more vocations. Workshops and interactive sessions focused on vocational discernment and formation, providing insights into the spiritual, pastoral, and academic dimensions of priestly life.

Experienced clergy shared their personal vocation stories, offering guidance and encouragement to the young aspirants. The event reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to cultivating priestly vocations in the Diocese of Hyderabad. The gathering played a crucial role in inspiring and guiding future shepherds of the Church, fostering a sense of unity and purpose among the faithful.

The Vocation Day at St. Bonaventure’s Minor Seminary served as a beacon of hope for the local Catholic community, highlighting the seminary’s role in nurturing vocations. As the seminary continues its mission, such events will remain essential in shaping the spiritual lives of young men called to serve the Church.
