Silver Jubilee of Bishop Joseph Arshad

Faisalabad: His Lordship Bishop Dr. Joseph Arshad (Bishop of Faisalabad Diocese) celebrated his Priesthood Silver Jubilee on 1st November 2016 at Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul, Faisalabad.

On this occasion, a thanksgiving Holy Mass was celebrated in the Cathedral. Bishop Joseph Arshad presided over the Holy Mass while Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw and Fr. Benjamin Shahzad, Rector Christ the King Seminary-Karachi were the concelebrant at the Mass.

Hundreds of people including priests, sisters and faithful from across Faisalabad and Pakistan participated in this auspicious event.

Here are the key points from the reflection of Bishop Joseph Arshad during the Jubilee Mass:

·        I wish to welcome all of you present here to celebrate the day of joy and happiness of my life.

·        To all of you, priests, religious and people, I say thanks for your support and friendship over these years. Especially I thank the priests of the diocese for their friendship and support over the years and their dedication and commitment to their ministry in times that are often demanding and difficult.

·        Christ said simply to His apostles ‘you have not chosen Me, I have chosen you.’  These are words I often reflect upon as I ponder and wonder on the events that gave direction to my life.

·        The Lord has given me the energy and health over the past twenty five years as I try – with all my own personal limitations – to fulfill the call that came to me.  I trust you will continue to keep me in prayers that I may be faithful in fulfilling the calling I received to be Bishop in a Diocese.

The day came to its closure with a nice meal shared together in joy and happiness.
