Six pilgrims of Mariamabad lost their lives in an accident
Six youths (Sharon Gulzar, Aman Joseph, Chand Javed, Zeeshan Aslam, Adil and Shahid) died on the spot in a traffic accident while they were on their way to Mariamabad. The accident took place at two o’clock in the morning.
Sialkot: On 10th September 2023, funeral Mass of the six youths belonging to Adha Parish, Sialkot was presided over by Fr. Francis Gulzar, farmer Vicar General/Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Parish, Gujranwala while Fr. Ashraf Gill from Sialkot, Fr. William Basharat OFM Cap & Fr. Babar Khushi OFM Cap were the con-celebrants.
About 4000/4500 faithful across the town and city including nuns, as well as pastors joined in to bid them farewell.
In his homily Fr. Francis Gulzar said, “I express my condolences on behalf of the entire Archdiocese to the families and thanks to all the fathers especially Fr. Shakeel Luca and Fr. Tariq George who have helped bring these dead bodies to their homeland since the accident” he continued.

“Today it must have come to our hearts that these people wanted to go for pilgrimage and prayers, but what happened to them? God doesn’t take life, rather He gives us life. We are but mortals and the sadness of an untimely death is incomprehensible. But by our faith we know that God receives the soul and ends the suffering”, he emphasized.
“This funeral Mass is one of the most difficult Mass as six of our youths are laying in front me. My heart is sad with this tragedy but I tell you what you can do, and that is – take these feelings, your sorrow and disappointment with the Lord and talk to Him about them, he concluded.
Earlier in the intervening night of 09/10 September 2023, a traffic accident occurred at two o’clock on Sunday morning near Khanqah Dogran, Safdarabad while a bus of pilgrims was going to the National Marian Shrine Mariamabad and met an accident. Resultantly, six youths, residents of Mariam Town, Adha Sialkot, were died on the spot. More than 50 people are injured which are under treatment in local hospitals.
