‘St. Paul and St. Peter are the ecclesial pillars’ Archbishop Benny Travas.

Karachi: On June 29, 2022 several parishes, from Akhtar Colony, got together to celebrate the feast of St. Peter and St. Paul. St Paul’s Parish, St Peter’s Church and Holy Rosary Church collated around 31 confirmands to receive blessings from His Grace Archbishop Benny Mario Travas.




The overjoyed congregation showered flower petals and sang hymns while welcoming His Grace along with Fr. Shakeel Gulzar and Fr. Dilawar Samuel.

In his Homily Archbishop Benny encouraged the confirmands saying, “St. Peter and St. Paul are exemplary characters for us as they preached God’s word to their last breath. For me they are ecclesial pillars.”

He continued telling the youngsters about the time St. Peter escaped from Rome. And how he encountered Jesus holding His cross saying, “Since you want to save your own life by escaping, I must be crucified again for your sake.”

So St. Peter returned to Rome and began preaching. Addressing the children he said, “Today I will anoint you and it is your duty not to forsake the church. Instead you must offer yourselves in the service of strengthening the church. The homily was followed by the sacrament of confirmation.

In his closing comments Fr Benjamin Shahzad, parish priest, thanked the entire congregation for making the event blissful especially His Grace, the catechism teachers and confirmand’s parents.
