Support your Parishes in their expenses, Bishop Joseph Arshad

Faisalabad: On 21st September 2017, Diocesan Pastoral Sharing Meeting was organized by His Excellency Rt. Rev. Bishop Dr. Joseph Arshad at Bishop’s House Railway Road Faisalabad. The meeting was also joined by parishes and commissions of the Diocese of Faisalabad with ardent support from Rev. Fr. Kamran Taj, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Faisalabad.

Rev. Fr. Pervez Emmanuel facilitated all the sessions during the Diocesan Pastoral Sharing Meeting. There were about 50 priests, sisters and lay people. During meeting Fr. Waseem Walter, Fr. Tahir Aziz, Fr. Younas Shahzad, Fr. Zafar Iqbal, Fr. Simon Khurshid, Fr. Shabir Bashir, Fr. Bonnie, Mr. Naeem Gill, Fr. Yaqub Yousaf, Fr. Khalid Mukhtar and his team shared their pastoral and organizational reports.

His Excellency Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Arshad concluded the Pastoral Sharing Meeting with his beautiful address and first of all he made the vote of thanks. He also highlighted some challenges and problems which our parishes are facing such as self-made pastors, lack of funds and drug addicted people.

He said, “We should have computerized parish record according to the need of the time. We should become independent as a local catholic church by creating income generating resources and maintaining our expenditures of the parishes”, he continued.

“All the priests should encourage the catholic families to collaborate financially by introducing family cards to cover the expenditures of the parishes. We have to build our future local catholic Pakistani church. Priests must use the gifts or talents of their parishioners in the parishes. By doing this, it becomes a participatory church”, he added.

“Education, health and charitable works are the identity of Christians in Pakistan. We have to keep the standard up in these services. His Excellency invited all the priests, brothers, sisters and Christian congregation to reflect upon the Eucharist which is a gift of Our Lord Jesus Christ for us” he concluded.

Pastoral Sharing Meeting was well prepared by the hard- working of His Excellency Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Arshad, Fr. Kamran Taj and the members of the Pastoral committee of the Diocese of Faisalabad. This was concluded with Eucharistic Adoration and the Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament by Fr. Kamran Taj.
