You are very fortunate to receive the Sacrament of Holy Orders, Archbishop Sebastian Shaw

Lahore (Suzanna Joseph): Dn. Danish Daniel OFM Cap was ordained as priest at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Lahore on September 18, 2020 by Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw OFM.

Archbishop Shaw presided over the Mass along with Fr. Abid Habib OFM Cap, Fr. Francis Gulzar, Vicar General and other priests from across the diocese. A large number of faithful attended the Mass in true religious spirit.

This day also marked the first time a priestly ordination was held during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Archdiocese of Lahore.

Homily by the Archbishop:

“The call for ministering God’s word is a unique calling. We who are blessed with the sacrament of baptism are very fortunate when we also receive the sacrament of priestly ordination as well. Jesus called his twelve disciples, who in turn abandon everything and followed Christ, deciding to serve God and his people. God sows seed of love into our hearts giving us courage to abandon our earthly desires and follow him. Therefore, we too must love everyone without being judgmental. Rigorous reading of the Bible, opening our hearts and minds to everyone, our conduct and speech are all acts done out of love. Where there is love there is the presence of God”.

“The source of happiness in this vocation is preaching God’s word to every nook and corner of the earth. So, appointments to different vicinities should not disappoint us since we are God’s servants. We don’t belong to just one parish or church; we belong to God. Its also important that you continuously expand the horizons of your mind by reading catechism books, prepare Holy Mass with complete devotion, do an in-depth study for homilies, dutifully perform the sacraments and are completely involved in all parish activities”.

“God created the phenomena of ‘Time’ and to dedicate our time to him is a commendable act of love. I also pray that your vocation becomes fruitful. Amen.”

Thoughts from the new priests

“Today on this happy occasion I am grateful to God that he has called me for this sacred vocation. My father, who has passed away waited for this special moment since it was his wish that I continue to serve and be devoted to God”.

“I am also thankful to Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw for ordaining me to priest hood, Your Grace, your presence here today is a source of immense joy for me and my family.”
