Caritas Pakistan Empowers Women through Skills Development Program

Rawalpindi: On 29th June 2025, Caritas Pakistan Islamabad-Rawalpindi Diocese celebrated a significant milestone with the 1st Graduation Ceremony of its Sewing Skill Center. The event, held at the Catholic Institute, St. Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral, Rawalpindi, marked the successful completion of the first batch of 88 women apprentices trained under the “Building Livelihood Through Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development” project.




The ceremony was graced by the presence of His Grace Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad, Bishop of Islamabad-Rawalpindi Diocese, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Archbishop Dr. Joseph praised the commitment of the teaching staff and applauded the participants for their dedication and growth.

The project, implemented by Caritas Pakistan Islamabad-Rawalpindi, aimed to empower women towards economic sustainability through skills development. Four skill centers were established in different areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, providing training to women in sewing and entrepreneurship.

The graduation ceremony showcased the practical work and creativity of the participants, with each center presenting handmade souvenirs to the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. The participants also shared their personal learning journeys, highlighting the skills acquired and the confidence gained during the four-month training program.

The ceremony was a testament to the impact of the project on the lives of the participants. The skills development centers have not only equipped the women with sewing skills but also empowered them to become entrepreneurs and contribute to their families’ economic well-being.
