Elders Honored at Special Thanksgiving Holy Mass Celebration
Hyderabad (Fr. Jamil Albert OFM): On 29th January 2025, the St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Latifabad, Hyderabad, was filled with joy and gratitude as the community came together to celebrate a special Thanksgiving Holy Mass for elders. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by His Excellency Bishop Samson Shukardin, Bishop of Hyderabad Diocese, along with Fr. Victor Sawera OFM, Fr. Nadeem Piaray Lal OFM, Fr. Amoon Nathaniel, Fr. Adil Albert, Fr. Vishal Haris OFM, and Fr. Jamil Albert OFM.
The Mass was a beautiful expression of appreciation and respect for the elderly members of the community, who were joined by FMM and Charity Sisters of Jesus & Mary, as well as faithful from various Christian colonies and quarters. Fr. Amoon Nathaniel set the tone for the celebration with a thoughtful introduction, highlighting the importance of elders in family life, society, and the Church.

Bishop Samson Shukardin congratulated St. Elizabeth Parish for their exemplary care and pastoral support for senior citizens, emphasizing the Church’s special concern for the elderly. His inspiring homily shared the Word of God and the Church’s teachings on the value and dignity of elders.
The celebration was made even more special as it coincided with Bishop Samson’s birthday. Fr. Jamil Albert OFM expressed heartfelt thanks to the Lord for the faith and experiences of the senior citizens and to Bishop Samson for sharing his special day with the elderly faithful.
This joyful gathering was a testament to the community’s love and appreciation for their elders. As the Church continues to emphasize the importance of caring for the elderly, this celebration served as a beautiful reminder of the value and dignity of our senior citizens.
