Diocese of Hyderabad Hosts Family Program for Catechists
The Diocese of Hyderabad organized a special three-day Family Program for the Catechists of the Diocese, held from August 26–28, 2025 at Jyoti Centre, Mirpurkhas. This spiritually enriching gathering brought together 22 Catechists along with their families, offering them an opportunity for prayer, learning, fellowship, and reflection on their mission as witnesses to the Gospel.
Day One: The Role of Mothers in Faith and Evangelisation
The first day opened with inspiring talks by Mrs. Grace Sylvester and Mrs. Shazia Zahid, who reflected on the theme “Mother as Evangelist and Teacher.” Drawing from Scripture, they highlighted the examples of great mothers of faith and their profound influence on family life. They emphasized that mothers play a pivotal role in the spiritual and faith formation of the family, nurturing values of love, service, and devotion. The speakers reminded participants that the mother’s presence and witness of faith is central to the spiritual growth of the household and the Church.

Day Two: Learning from St. John Henry Newman
On the second day, the session was led by Fr. Adil Albert, who spoke on the life, ecclesial mission, and enduring relevance of St. John Henry Newman. Fr. Adil shared insights into Newman’s journey of faith, his writings, and his contribution to the universal Church. A special focus was placed on the fact that Pope Leo XIV recently declared St. John Henry Newman as a Doctor of the Church. He explained that Newman is the only Doctor of the Church to be declared in the last 500 years, making this recognition particularly historic. Fr. Adil also reminded participants that there are now 38 Doctors of the Church, including four women saints, whose teachings continue to guide and inspire Christians worldwide.
Day Three: Faith, Family and the Future of Youth
The third and final day featured Mr. Junaid Christopher, who addressed the theme “Faith, Family, and the Future of Youth.” He spoke about the challenges families face in today’s rapidly changing world and the ways in which faith can provide strength, direction, and resilience. Mr. Christopher encouraged parents and young people to remain steadfast in their faith and to face future difficulties with courage, unity, and trust in God’s providence.
