Pontifical Mission Societies Pakistan Hosts Recollection Day in Karachi
Karachi (Nouman Peter): A Recollection Day for the members of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) Pakistan was organized at St. Philip’s Church, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi on 22nd March 2025. The event aimed to provide a spiritual retreat for the members, helping them to reflect on their missionary calling and to deepen their faith.
Fr. Sabir Sagar, a renowned theologian and professor at the National Catholic Institute of Theology, Karachi, was the keynote speaker. In his address, he emphasized the importance of service, stating that “we are called to serve, not to be served.” He encouraged the members to be faithful to their missionary calling, reminding them that “God has called us to be faithful, not successful.”

Fr. Sagar also highlighted the significance of humility, love, and compassion in serving others. He quoted Jesus’ words, “Whoever wants to be first must be the last of all and the servant of all” (Mark 9:35). He emphasized that true service requires humility and a willingness to serve others selflessly.
The Recollection Day also included a Holy Hour, during which the members prayed and reflected on their spiritual journey. The event concluded with a Mass, celebrated by Fr. Sagar, which was attended by all the members.
In his vote of thanks, Fr. Afzal Gulfam, Diocesan Director of PMS Karachi, expressed his gratitude to God for the opportunity to spend a day in spiritual reflection. He thanked Fr. Sagar for his inspiring talk and Fr. Shahid Boota, Parish Priest of St. Philip’s Church, for his hospitality.
Noman Peter, Diocesan Coordinator of PMS Karachi, also thanked Fr. Sagar and the members for making the event a success. He emphasized that the Recollection Day was an opportunity for spiritual growth and renewal, helping the members to deepen their faith and commitment to their missionary calling.
The event was attended by members of the PMS from various parts of the city, who came together to reflect on their spiritual journey and to renew their commitment to serving others.
