Pontifical Mission Society Hosts Holy Childhood Event in Karachi

Karachi (Samson Boota): The Pontifical Mission Society organized its annual Holy Childhood program at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Karachi on Monday, 24th February 2025. The event drew a large number of students from all Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Karachi, who gathered to celebrate their faith and commitment to missionary work.

The Holy Mass was presided over by His Grace Archbishop Benny Mario Travas, who was joined by Fr. Afzal Gulfam, Director of the Pontifical Mission Society in Karachi and Fr. Anthony Abraz, Parish Priest of St. Thomas Parish, Malir-Karachi. The readings for the Mass were taken from the feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple.

In his homily, Archbishop Benny emphasized the importance of sacrifice, light, and taking up one’s cross for Christ. He reminded the students that following Jesus is not easy and requires giving up everything. The Archbishop stressed that Christians are called to become light in the world, enlightening others with Christ’s light, and to offer their lives as a sacrifice to God.

The event was a resounding success, with students from all Catholic schools in the Archdiocese participating with enthusiasm. At the end of the Holy Mass, Fr. Afzal thanked Archbishop Benny, the principals, teachers, staff, and children of all the schools for their participation and generous offerings.

The Holy Childhood program is an annual event that aims to foster a sense of missionary awareness and responsibility among Catholic students. The program is organized by the Pontifical Mission Society, which works to promote missionary work and support the spread of the Gospel around the world.
