St. Eugene Parish Quetta Honors Patron Saint with Devotion
Quetta: St. Eugene Parish in Quetta celebrated a beautiful and spiritual three-day program from May 19 to 21, 2025, in honor of its patron saint. The event drew a large gathering of religious leaders, faithful, and church members.
Day 1 – May 19, 2025:
The first day focused on the life and mission of St. Eugene. The session began with the recitation of the Holy Rosary, led by Ms. Komal. Scripture was read by Ms. Sanam Parvez. The event was emceed by Ms. Laiba Amjad and Mr. Joel Yousaf. Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Adeel Amir (OMI) shared the inspiring story of how St. Eugene founded the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) during a time of religious and social crisis in France. He emphasized St. Eugene’s dedication to the youth and the poor. The youth group and catechism children presented welcome performances, skits, and tableaus portraying scenes from the saint’s life. The choir added a spiritual atmosphere with hymns. Fr. Adeel concluded the first day with a note of gratitude.

Day 2 – May 20, 2025:
The second day marked a special milestone with the celebration of the First Holy Communion for 97 children. The day began with the Rosary recited by the Mary Group. The children, dressed in white to symbolize purity, entered the church singing the entrance hymn. Scripture readings were done by Yesi Adnan, Jeremiah Shafiq, and Daim Khawar. Parish Priest Fr. Rizwan Imtiaz (OMI) delivered a heartfelt sermon on the importance of the Holy Eucharist, highlighting it as a deep bond with Jesus Christ. Rev. Fr. Qaiser Boota (OMI) was welcomed with a garland, and Fr. Rizwan, along with Fr. Adeel Amir, distributed certificates to the children. Gifts were presented by Mrs. Akram and Mrs. Qamar. The day ended peacefully with thanks from Fr. Rizwan.
Day 3 – May 21, 2025:
The final day of the celebrations was marked by a solemn Holy Mass led by His Excellency Bishop Khalid Rehmat (OFM Cap). The Rosary was led once again by the Mary Group. The liturgy was con-celebrated by several priests including Fr. Akmal Patras, Fr. Samuel Adnan (SDB), Fr. Aamir Shehzad, Fr. Samson Shakir, Fr. Jeremiah Rafiq, and Fr. Qaiser Boota (OMI). Numerous religious sisters from different congregations and a large congregation were present. The Gospel was read by Fr. Qaiser Boota, who also delivered a detailed sermon on St. Eugene’s legacy. Floral garlands and tokens of appreciation were presented to the priests and sisters. A cake-cutting ceremony and expression of gratitude by Bishop Khalid and Fr. Rizwan brought the event to a joyful conclusion.
