Dominican Sisters Renew Commitment to God’s Call

Faisalabad: The Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena organized a meaningful seminar on 24 October 2025 for Prioresses and Formators on the inspiring theme “Vowed to Mission: Embracing God’s Call in Dominican Life.” The seminar was facilitated by Fr. Iftikhar Moon, O.P., whose reflections drew inspiration from Cardinal Timothy Radcliffe, O.P.

Fr. Iftikhar presented a refreshing perspective on the Dominican mission, highlighting that mission is not merely about preaching or external activity, but rather a vow deeply rooted in God’s own promise—a living expression of His love and presence in today’s world. He invited the participants to see their vows of obedience, poverty, and chastity not as restrictions, but as liberating commitments that open hearts to God’s transforming grace and deepen the joy of communal living.

The seminar was structured around three interactive sessions—two based on the teachings of Vatican II, and one focused on Cardinal Radcliffe’s reflections on the spirituality of mission. Fr. Iftikhar beautifully described religious life as a participation in divine action, a call to communion, and a witness to radical discipleship. He emphasized that the heart of Dominican identity lies in being rooted in Christ, who sends each religious as a sign of hope and prophetic joy, especially in the context of Pakistan.

Throughout the sessions, participants engaged in group discussions that encouraged honest sharing and deep reflection. The Sisters expressed a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm for their Dominican vocation, recognizing that their call is not just to serve but to be a living word of God’s compassion in the world. These dialogues fostered a spirit of unity, reaffirming the strength and vitality of the Dominican family.

The day concluded with heartfelt gratitude to Sr. Parveen Lal, O.P., Prioress Provincial, and her Council for organizing this enriching and faith-nourishing experience. Their leadership continues to nurture spaces of renewal and reflection where Dominican Sisters can rediscover the beauty of their consecrated life and mission.

The seminar was truly a moment of grace, reminding all that to be “vowed to mission” is to let God’s promise shine through one’s life — a promise of love, truth, and joyful witness in the heart of the Church.
