Fr. Tariq George Denies Rumors of Flood at Mariamabad Shrine
Mariamabad: The Catholic Church in Pakistan is preparing with great joy and devotion for the annual pilgrimage at the National Marian Shrine in Mariamabad, scheduled for September 5–7, 2025. Each year, thousands of faithful from across the country gather at this sacred site to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, seek her intercession, and renew their faith through prayer, Eucharistic celebrations, and community fellowship.
In the lead-up to this year’s pilgrimage, concerns arose on social media regarding the condition of the shrine. Several accounts began circulating false claims suggesting that the Mariamabad shrine had been affected by flooding. These rumors caused unnecessary worry among pilgrims and the faithful who eagerly look forward to participating in the largest annual Catholic gathering in Pakistan.
Addressing the matter directly, Fr. Tariq George, Rector of the National Marian Shrine in Mariamabad, released a video message to the faithful. In his statement, he categorically denied all such rumors and reassured pilgrims that there is no flood situation at the shrine. “By the grace of God, everything is normal at Mariamabad,” Fr. Tariq emphasized. He further requested the faithful not to be misled by misinformation spreading on social media, and instead to remain focused on preparing themselves spiritually for the pilgrimage.

As September approaches, the Catholic Church in Pakistan invites all faithful to keep the pilgrimage in their prayers and to seek the intercession of Our Lady of Mariamabad. With hearts full of faith and trust, the community looks forward to another grace-filled experience at the National Marian Shrine, where hope and devotion shine brightly each year.
